New England Ski Season

As leaves and temperatures drop, are you beginning to feel that irresistible pull to the mountains? It's time for another incredible winter ski season, and our real estate agents share the projected opening dates for your favorite slopes around New England.

  • Bretton Woods - 99 Ski Area Rd., Bretton Woods, NH 03575
Hit the slopes at the #2 ski resort in the East, as voted by readers of Ski Magazine. Bretton Woods was also named #1 in Grooming & Lifts in recognition of the superior standards maintained at this first-class resort. At 464 acres, Bretton Woods is the largest ski resort in New Hampshire, with a Nordic ski center that's known nationally for its family-friendly programs and excellent customer service. The projected opening date for 2022 is Saturday, November 26.

  • Smugglers' Notch - 4323 Vermont Rt. 108 S., Jeffersonville, VT 05464
Smugglers' Notch commits to offering "a family experience that's second to none." Two centuries ago, smugglers used the caves and woods of the mountains to furtively transport illegal goods across the Canadian border. Today, that same rugged terrain draws countless visitors for skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and other outdoor activities. The Mountain Experience packages guarantee daytime access on all operating lifts during each day of your stay, with no blackouts or restrictions. The projected opening date for 2022 is Saturday, December 3.

  • Pleasant Mountain - 119 Mountain Rd., Bridgton, ME 04009
In honor of tradition dating back to 1936, the resort is once again taking its original name of Pleasant Mountain. Rest assured that only the name has changed. Visitors to Pleasant Mountain will still enjoy the same great activities, including the most extensive night skiing in New England, that keep them coming back year after year. The projected opening date for 2022 is Friday, December 16.

  • Cranmore Mountain - 1 Skimobile Rd., North Conway, NH 03860
Inspired by his daughter's vacation taking European-style ski lessons in Jackson, North Conway native Harvey Dow Gibson set about developing a resort on then-Lookout Mountain. After luring the instructor to the new site, Cranmore Mountain was born. Gibson was also instrumental in creating the revolutionary Skimobile lift, with cars ascending on a wooden trestle. In a development not likely foreseen by Gibson, Cranmore Mountain now features New Hampshire's top snow tubing park. The projected opening date for 2022 is Friday, November 25.

  • Mt. Abram - 308 Howe Hill Rd., Greenwood, ME 04255
Located just one hour north of Portland, Mt. Abram offers easy access yet still gives the feeling of "getting away from it all." The Cross brothers began developing the area in the 1960s, and Mt. Abram was notable for being the first chairlift-serviced ski facility in the region. As a touch of whimsy, all the trails are named for Boris Badenov. Dudley Do-Right, and other characters from the iconic cartoon show Rocky & Bullwinkle. Thanks to sponsor L.L. Bean, Sunday lift tickets are only $35. The projected opening date for 2022 is Monday, December 12.

  • Bolton Valley - 4302 Bolton Access Rd., Bolton Valley, VT 05477
Ascend the spectacular heights of the Green Mountains at Bolton Valley, which has the highest base elevation of any ski area in Vermont. Scenic views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains in the distance add a breathtaking visual element to the ski runs. Explore 12,000 acres of pristine wilderness with Bolton Valley's premier backcountry program. Season-long equipment leases and lesson programs provide budget-friendly ways to maximize time on the slopes. The projected opening date for 2022 is Saturday, December 10.

  • Loon Mountain - 60 Loon Mountain Rd., Lincoln, NH 03251
Politics and outdoor sports may not seem like a natural pairing, but that was the career path of Sherman Adams, former governor of New Hampshire. After a stint as chief of staff for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, during which Adams was featured on the covers of both Time and Newsweek, he returned to his hometown of Lincoln to spearhead the development of Loon Mountain. Soar into the sky aboard the White Mountain Express Gondola, the resort's signature attraction and the longest scenic skyride in the state. Hop into the four-person car for a 1.3-mile ride to Loon Peak, where you can look out over the White Mountains as you dine at Summit Cafe. The projected opening date for 2022 is Friday, December 2.

  • Bromley Mountain - 3984 Vermont Rt. 11, Peru, VT 05152
Bromley Mountain is New England's only south-facing major ski resort, which translates to longer days, warmer temperatures, and softer snow. The slopes are well-suited to accommodate all levels of experience, as the forty-seven trails are equally divided between easy, moderate, and difficult ratings. Adrenaline junkies can perfect their skills at Bromley's two terrain parks. Bonanza is smaller scale for beginners, while Garden has larger jumps, rails, and boxes for intermediate and expert skiers and riders. The projected opening date is Friday, December 9.

Even during winter, the fun never stops in New England. If you're buying or selling a home, contact us at The Masiello Group for dedicated and experienced help.
